A village was not really on our mind but this looked so good we decided to come up and have a look. It turned out to be just like the model - really green, very relaxing and pleasant. Since we moved here we have found it the perfect ambiance for us.
I had cared for my husband in our 2-story home for a number of years and when he passed away in March 2010 I went online to have a look at the villages in this area. When I saw Compton Gardens I felt this was the place for me and since I've lived here this feeling has never wavered.
A big part of our decision to join a retirement community was that we had the experience of two elderly widowed mothers in our family. One was in Brisbane who stayed in her own home alone and the other was in Adelaide who moved into a village and was surrounded by people who gave her so much support.
We moved in a hurry as our apartment became available very quickly and we bought it on the spot, but then had to sell our home. We did six months of renovations in three and a half weeks, then sold the house within a week!
We investigated retirement living options around Brisbane, however my sister lives at Caloundra and we discovered that Nambour Hospital has a great big new ward for dialysis. We love the beach and my father was a builder up here so I knew the area. So that was that.
