Private care operator Regis has cherry-picked the purchase of four prime residential care facilities from Masonic Care, delivering 771 high quality beds. They also have purchased 26,000 square meters of land for 244 village units. They paid $163M which equates to $229,000 per bed with the land thrown in for free – a top price.

CIMC Modular Building Executive GM, John Zendler, gave a frank and detailed presentation on modular construction at our LEADERS SUMMIT. He summarised that just 10% of projects suited this approach. His first aged care project is WA’s Craigcare with its Ascot development (pictured) which is 15 stories and is made up of 57 retirement village apartments above a five level aged care facility.

Few people understand the retirement village sector better than Tim Russell; he built RetireAustralia from scratch to the country’s fourth largest operator in 10 years, with 26 big villages. So his first new business initiative since resigning from RetireAustralia last May will be interesting. He gave a ‘first glimpse’ at our LEADERS SUMMIT, and the news is he is going ‘digital’ with ‘care’. Called Five Good Friends, Tim describes it: “The FiveGood Friends model is a ‘community centred’ peer-to-peer ‘help’ marketplace”.
