Aveo has acquired 100% of private aged care village operator Freedom Aged Care for $215.5M. The acquisition by a top tier village operator takes supported living/private aged care from the fringes into the mainstream of retirement living and care product offerings. Freedom operates 15 villages under the Retirement Village Act in QLD, NSW, VIC and TAS. The deal delivers Aveo 1,000 units plus a development pipeline of 533 units.

The Executive Director of the $700M turnover QLD care provider Blue Care, Robyn Batten, has notified parent Uniting Care QLD that she will be moving on in June to join eHealth innovator Borderless Healthcare. She will have held the position for six years. Previously she was Executive Director of Uniting Aged Care Victoria and Tasmania for four years. She is also Executive Director of Australian Regional and Remote Community Services and a National Board Director of Aged and Community Services Australia (ACSA).
Across the six months July - Dec 2015 Stockland Retirement turned over 443 units, delivering a six-month operating profit of $18M, up $2M on the same six months in 2014. This delivers an increased Return on Assets of 5.2% against a future target of 7.5% by 2018.
