Ian and Carol McLean knew it was time to leave their home when Carol damaged her knee. They were living in a two-storey house and the stairs were getting increasingly difficult to navigate. It was time to move into somewhere more suitable.
They bought a property in Queensland to retire there. But when grandchildren were born they were not going to be separated from them, so they decided to stay in Sydney.
As members of Anglicare’s Priority Register, the couple were invited to the sales launch of stage 3 villas at The Ponds Village in Sydney’s NorthWest, where they reserved a villa and now call home, along with their beloved dog Coco.
For Ian and Carol, making the move to Anglicare’s popular retirement village was one of the best decisions they ever made.
“Our villa is just perfect. It is a great size and has plenty of room,” Carol explains. “The grandchildren love coming here. Our grandson enjoyed the pool and got to know our surrounding neighbours by name, and that was just the first week of his school holidays!”
“The people really make this place,” says Ian.
“The staff are great and everyone gets on so well together.” Carol adds,
“You’re not pressured to do things here. We don’t live out of each other’s pockets, but the support you get from this community is wonderful. They are there if you need them.”
Relax knowing when you leave the village, you won’t be responsible for ‘selling’ your property – we take of all the cleaning and renovating for you. Choose from a variety of villas, apartments and units – something for every budget.
