12 months ago the SA State government introduced planning approvals that bypass councils if the project exceeds $3 million in value. The Development Assessment Commission meets in secret and has now approved $100 million in projects.
The biggest winner has been Life Care which has had a $50 million, three-storey retirement village approved and has a $35 million retirement village project awaiting approval.
Life Care is a Not For Profit village operator that has grown out ofthe Churches of Christ group.
In 12 months 32 applications have been made, 18 had been approved (valued at $100 million) and to date none have been refused. (Those waiting have a value of $133 million).
