Development approval has been received for the company’s fourth Melbourne village at Burwood East according to Ryman Healthcare’s Chief Executive Gordon MacLeod.
The village, located in a sought after part of the city, will be home to more than 400 residents with Ryman planning to have work under way at Burwood East as well as new villages at Coburg and Geelong by the end of the financial year. The company is aiming to have five villages open in Victoria by the end of 2020 and has three more villages in Victoria in design phase.
Meanwhile residents are about to move into Brandon Park, Ryman’s second village in Melbourne.
Ryman Healthcare, a New Zealand retirement village and aged care operator, expanded into Australia in 2012 buying its first site for development in Wheelers Hill in eastern Melbourne. The company has recently commenced work at its 34th New Zealand village site.
