David Waldie, CEO of Frontier Networks, named health 'wearables' as the next big IT consumer success.

He predicts they will become mainstream because insurance companies will embrace them as a preventative health tool - because they will identify problems before they occur.

Sensors will measure multiple health funcitons and algorithms will identify potential problems and create alerts. The developers of the devices believe in time the data will be fed to your GP.

Demonstrating the popularity, Waldie quoted that 485 million wearables will be sold in 2015 worldwide.
