Reaffirming that there is a responsibility to identify and act on the driving abilities of the elderly for their own safety (as well as others), an 85 year old woman who was leaving a Sydney retirement village this week had her arm partially severed when the car she was in accelerated out of the village entrance and across the road into a house opposite. The second elderly woman in the car received multiple lacerations.

It was not reported who was driving. It was the 85 year old’s birthday.
