Warrigal Care collected two awards at the recent Aged & Community Services Association of NSW & ACT Awards.

The work of the organisation’s Sustainability team to improve Warrigal’s ecological footprint was recognised by winning the ACS Award for Excellence – Sustainability.

Warrigal Care’s volunteer programme was also acknowledged. There are over 330 volunteers making up the organisations’ workforce: Carol Gribble was singled out for her work at the Warrigal Care Warilla Op Shop for over 30 years. She won the Award for Excellence - Volunteer.

“You kind of think why me?” said Carol.

“The award’s not really just for me, it’s for everyone. I really love what I do, helping people, seeing the smiles on their faces. They’re not really shop customers anymore, they’re friends.”

As an ACSA State Award winner Carol is now nominated for the National Volunteer Award, to be announced in November.
