Residents of Viva Care aged care facility in Essendon were advised they’ve a little over a week to find a new home.

While management declined to comment, an employee confirmed to Fairfax that the closing date – April 8 – was correct.

Viva Care is part of George Snowden’s Cambridge Aged Care Group. Mr Snowden, a former bankrupt, has been accused by Westpac of having taken advantage of a multi-million dollar payment error.

It is understood that Viva Care has capacity for about 75 residents.

A spokeswoman from the Department of Health and Ageing Department said the centre's provider has been advised in mid February that its accreditation had been revoked effective April 8, and that they were obliged to make appropriate relocation arrangements.
