Under the partnership, the Department of Communities contributed 6.8ha of land – valued at $7.68 million – for the age-targeted Haven development in Ridgewood, 37km north of the Perth CBD, while SCC will provide apartments for social housing tenants in consideration for the land.
Stage one of the project is now underway which will see property group Pindan release 104 lots featuring 54 affordable units and 36 walk-up apartments for sale.
A second stage will add more apartments, a commercial precinct, medical centre and supermarket.
Pindan sales consultant Richard Nell has told the West Australian that the green-titled lots will allow purchasers to own both the house and land it sits on.
“There will be no monthly fees, strata fees, or exit fees, which will eliminate most of the ongoing lifetime costs that are usually associated with housing targeted to this sector.”
The house and land packages will be priced from $320,000, with 75% of the homes priced below the Ridgewood median house price of $387,000 and all below the Perth median house price of $529,000.
