74 beds have been added to Wesley Mission’s Rayward Lodge aged care site. The new facility will also include a 14 bed dedicated dementia unit.

Wesley Mission chief executive Dr Keith Garner and NSW Premier Barry O’Farrell opened the centre before a tour of the new dining hall, cinema room and private accommodation rooms with adjustable beds, air-conditioning and interactive communication system.

‘‘The government can’t meet every individual’s needs so it’s very important we work to help organisations like Wesley Mission,’’ said Mr O’Farrell.

With Australia’s population expected to reach almost 40 million by the middle of the century, Dr Garner said the new building was about planning for the future.

‘‘This is part of Wesley Mission’s proactive response in preparing for this outcome while providing physical, emotional and spiritual support.’’
