The $53 million expansion will see another 67 retirement units added to the existing 87-unit retirement village in Oran Park in south-west Sydney, plus an 80-bed aged care home.

Anglicare general manager of property Peter Paltoo said the development will cater to the region’s current and future aged care needs.

“Co-locating our retirement living villas and residential aged care services ensures the present and future care needs of our residents can be met,” he said.

“There is a high number of people seeking aged care services in the community and several have expressed frustration at having to find care out of the local area.”

The village occupies a special place for the Not For Profit operator, being their first retirement village development.

Despite initial fears that the village would not sell well when it opened in 2011, it had already sold 11 units on launch day.

Clearly that popularity is continuing to fuel demand.
