Paul Keating has released his grand idea for a 'longevity levy' of 2-3 per cent of wages for life.

Keating sees it as a Commonwealth insurance scheme to cover the cost of people aging.

It would deliver 75 per cent of the funds when we retire and 25 per cent when we turn 80.

Nobody in government took up the concept.
