Hundreds of people dressed in orange and red marched across Brisbane’s Ted Smout Bridge to protest against changes at Eventide Aged Care Facility.

The community campaign was launched to save the facility and has gained pace with announcement that an aged care home in Kingaroy has also been marked to close.

"The Union fears for the future of every one of the 21 state government nursing homes across Queensland," said Queensland Nurses Union secretary Beth Mohle.

According to the Union, all 129 beds at Moreton Bay Nursing Care Unit have been earmarked for closure by the government.

Eventide resident Patsy John, Lilley MP Wayne Swan and Beth Mohle from the Queensland Nurses Union addressed the gathering at Brighton’s Decker Park.

Protestor Jeannie Blaine hoped sense would prevail.

"Mum fought in 1997 with Wayne (Swan) and I'm here to show people we can do it again," she said. "We can't take no for an answer, we've got to try and swing it around."
