Ian Hardy, the Chief Executive of Helping Hand wants to challenge traditional thinking about aged care.

“Residential homes offer support and care for people as they age, but it’s especially important to establish an environment that gives people choice they are accustomed to and freedom to continue doing the things they love,” he said.

That’s why their new facility in Adelaide has a putt-putt golf course.

The site maximises natural light with an emphasis on its surroundings, the city skyline and the Adelaide Hills. In addition, it offers a men’s shed, library and art gallery, plus wifi and an internet cafe for the tech-savvy.

Proposing a new way of thinking, Mr Hardy emphasised that a new way of thinking was paramount.

“While safety and care is the foundation of successful ageing, we understand that it is not enough. Happiness and joy comes with genuine choice, flexibility and services that support a preferred lifestyle.”
