The Victorian State Opposition points to budget documents that states selling 1,000 beds to private or not-for-profit wills save the Government $75 million over two years.

However the Government says there will be no loss of beds, with the federal government expected to boost bed numbers.

Opposition leader Daniel Andrews says savings can only be achieved by spending less on labour.

Meanwhile, Health Minister David Davis says Southern Cross is now running aged care beds previously operated by Peninsula Health at a lower cost.

"That has been a very successful collaboration, a very successful model," he said.
