At a poignant ceremony this week, not-for-profit aged care provider Benetas honoured a long standing volunteer, Peter Volk.

Peter passed away after a long illness in February last year. His impact on Benetas was remembered this week with the opening of the Peter Volk Wing of Bentas St Georges’ in Altona Meadows.

The new wing has added an extra 34 beds to its existing 90 bed offering, and gives Benetas the ability to offer additional innovative and specialised services.

Jane Boag, Benetas General Manager Residential Services, is excited to be able to offer increased services at a time when many aged care providers are in the opposite position.

“We are proud to be investing in the future of our older population,” she said. “By expanding the facility to 124 beds, we are significantly boosting our ability to support an increasing number of older people in the local Altona Meadows community.

“This new wing ensures that we are meeting the needs of the local community and people know they, or their loved ones, are safe and supported.”
