"We appreciate the village ownership structure. Our interests are protected, but if there is a problem this can be passed to management for such action as may be necessary. The caring and professional attitude of management and staff confirms our decision to move to The Arbour."
"Nobody likes uncertainty. Here I feel very confident."
"We are great believers in the need to maintain high levels of physical and mental activity. In Berry, both are readily achievable through involvement in the numerous activities that are on offer."
Rodney: "The often inevitable consequences of ageing - loneliness, an increasing dependence on others, and a reluctance to confront the challenge of moving to a different living environment - became clear to us as we discussed our own future with friends whose parents were of a similar age. We were very conscious of the situation our own parents found themselves in on the death of a partner of many years. These and other issues persuaded us the time had come to take positive steps to ensure a future contentment for ourselves and lack of stress for our families, particularly as for historical reasons our children live in quite different locations."
Jacque: "The decision to move into a retirement village is a major one
and should not be undertaken lightly. We did our homework, researching various places for a couple of years and in the end were able to set a number of benchmarks to help our decision making. First was location, of course, and the general atmosphere of the village and surroundings. We hoped for a well-planned home in a village, not too large, with an open environment where we could feel free from constrictions and look forward to enjoying our varied interests. The communal facilities offered by the village were important, but we also wanted to feel part of the wider community with ready access to services. The Arbour at Berry has fulfilled all these needs for us, and we feel very confident about our future."
Rodney: "We found The Arbour at Berry in a newspaper ad and then
checked it out thoroughly on the Internet [via Villages.com.au]. We investigated numerous other villages in New South Wales and Southern Queensland through visiting or looking at brochures. We settled on The Arbour as our future home following a visit, even though at the time the place we chose was in the early stages of construction."
Jacque: "The design of The Arbour homes is very thoughtful - attention to detail makes for easy living. The three bedrooms and large living areas mean there is plenty of room for all needs. The second bedroom with its own bathroom is separate from the main living area and looks out onto the courtyard; we use the other room as a study. We love the open kitchen, the high ceilings and the fact that we can flow outside for indoor and outdoor dining. Entertaining is very enjoyable, and it is delightful to see the early morning sun flooding every room, particularly in winter."
Rodney: "We are great believers in the need to maintain high levels of physical and mental activity. In Berry, both are readily achievable through involvement in the numerous activities that are on offer. If one feels the need to travel further afield, both Sydney and Canberra are within easy reach by car and train. We were pleased to find quality health services within easy reach of our new home"
"We are both keen gardeners and are enjoying the rural atmosphere
offered by the Arbour. Every house here looks out on a green pasture
or park. We have already joined the community garden project sponsored by the Uniting Church and look forward to a reasonable harvest as spring progresses."
"We appreciate the village ownership structure. Our interests are protected, but if there is a problem this can be passed to management for such action as may be necessary. Although a new village in the course of development, we have found the caring and professional attitude of management and staff confirms our decision to move to The Arbour."
