Uniting NSW.ACT has celebrated the topping out of its newest retirement living development at Marion Street, Leichhardt, in Sydney’s inner west.

The Marion Street development is a 65-apartment complex across two buildings.

The ‘topping out’ ceremony marks an important construction milestone – when a development reaches its full height.

It was celebrated on the rooftop, bringing together many of the parties involved in planning and developing the apartments, including Tracey Burton – Chief Executive Officer, Uniting NSW.ACT; Peter Sukkar, Director & Joint CEO, Growthbuilt; Adam Ashcroft; Construction Manager, Growthbuilt, and the Reverend Radhika Sukumar-White, Uniting Church Leichhardt, who blessed the land.

Uniting Marion Street, when opened next year, will have 12 units allocated to affordable housing.

An official opening of Uniting NSW.ACT Norton Street, Leichhardt Retirement Living Apartments followed the topping out of Marion Street.

The completed Norton Street development offers Leichhardt residents 1-bedroom, 2-bedroom, 2-bedroom plus study and 3-bedroom apartments in a 49-apartment complex. This complex has now sold out.

The two sites have been in the Uniting Church’s hands since 1957. Uniting has redeveloped its former Annesley House aged care home in Marion Street and its disused Harold Hawkins Court aged care home in Norton Street.

Uniting NSW.ACT is not selling the Marion Street retirement apartment complex yet, but is taking a waitlist.
