Noise from the $115 million redevelopment of Stockland’s Hervey Bay shopping centre was of concern to 300 residents at the Golden Shores Retirement Village.

They met with representatives of Stockland at a specially convened information and briefing session about the redevelopment.

An acoustic barrier to shield residents from construction noise was one of the agenda items.

The session was an opportunity for both sides to discuss the project said Stockland's development manager Michael Buchanan.

"After a presentation outlining the design of the redevelopment and its features, the team discussed residents' ongoing access to the shopping centre and the construction schedule," he said.

Construction of the barrier will start towards the end of May.
