RetireAustralia wants to scrap approved plans for 54 assisted care apartments and build 42 independent living units instead in an expansion of Tarragal Glen Retirement Village, at Erina, on the NSW Central Coast.

The owner/operator has gone to Central Coast Council submitting the changes, stating there is greater demand for independent living apartments (ILAs).

The ILAs will be in the same four-storey building as approved for the assisted care apartments, with the first level a basement car park. There will be an increase in parking from 31 spaces to 38 spaces.

The proposed development will be split into two stages with the first including demolition and upgrade works. Stage two will be construction of the four-storey building for the apartments.

Tarragal Glen Retirement Village has 438 homes/units with a country club, pools and a bowling green.

RetireAustralia is also building the second stage of The Rise at Wood Glen, also in Erina. Stage one is sold out and the second stage will have 34 independent living apartments.

The final release of its Forresters Beach Retirement Village, also on the NSW Central Coast, is underway. Stage 7 and 8 will be completed this year. It will consist of 22 new independent living villas.
